Two Illustrations

Two illustrations I offered to go with poems in The Nail magazine. Above is a self-portrait as alcoholic for "Loose Change", and below one for "Mapmaker" (went on Camel Exchange blog in more minimal stage).I'm not sure about the Mapmaker illo, I think I overdid it in the wrong way. The Loose Change man though, I am pretty pleased with. I dressed up in my old heavy coat and took some digital pics to draw from, textured with crayon, and then given extra moodiness with digital manouvering.

Slow Burner

I just completed a song "Late Starter/Slow Burner" that's appropriately been left unfinished for years. It's got a subtitle "(reverse Kate 'n Pete)" - if you know the song "Don't Give Up" you might guess why. So the Slow Burner is me, and you can see my muse above at its mysterious work.

Have Cake Eat, a truncation of "Have your cake and eat it" jumped into my head apropos of nowt, and it sort of sounded like a title for something. So here are the six permutations of it in black biro, and a more cakey pink version below.

Demise of the Railings House

It may seem a small thing, but the nearby house with the arty 'David Smith-esque' metal railings is half-demolished, and with it a part of the spirit of the locality melts away. Shortlands has little to distinguish it, it's a bit of nowhere area between Bromley and Beckenham - both underwhelming themselves. The railings were a tiny bit of magic in a humdrum place!

The house has stood empty for at least a couple of years, these photos I took this February. I don't know anything about it - perhaps it was an artist's studio once, and they practised their art on the balcony railings.
