A camel.

I love this camel - I've just come back to look at it again.

Have you ever done collaborative drawings? I used to waste away chemistry lessons at school sitting next to someone with as whacky a sense of humour as me and we'd do sort of collaborative drawings...

I draw a flower and he'd draw poison rain, so I'd draw an umbrella, and he'd make holes in it... you know that sort of thing.

Anyway I was wondering if you'd like to do a collaborative doodle.

We could both draw a first bit of a doodle and post to our own blogs then download the other's drawing and add to it... then post the amended version... I don't know how long it would gone on but it seemed like it might be fun!

And you never know - other people might want to join in....

I would love to try collaborative doodling Caroline - no idea if I will be any good at it, but worth a go. Will leave a message over at Caroslines.

Great! Well how about both drawing something simple then swapping them over and adding more twidles or colour or whatever the first time.

I rather feel that this camel could be the logo for it as a project... as in "A camel is a horse designed by committee!"

So we could put a little camel button by any picture that we are happy to have other people (at the moment just the two of us, but you have to plan for more!) do the next stage on. Maybe I could colour in the camel to make the button collaborative in the first place?

What do you think?

I've played with the camel and you can see it at:

This is currently private so only people finding this link will go there.

If you like the idea but want to mangle it some more yourself please do!

And if you'd rather the camel remained unmolested I'll remove it from flickr.

There is a smaller size, more apporpriate for use as a badge at:

I've also done a doodle for you to mangle, which I won't blog until we're agreed on whether to include the camel. But it is also private on flickr at:

Have fun!

Hello Caroline, looking forward to investigating your camel work, bit too groggy to take it in for now - will try again tomorrow. Glad to see you firing on inspiration!

I'm listening to music by DuOud (oud playing plus electronica) which makes a very apt soundtrack for camels.

How thrilling! I started the page loading, then I was browsing Shane's Take a Line for a Walk, then suddenly the camel appeared, and I thought Hey isn't that... and remembered what was going on. It's great to see someone else adding there touch to something of mine - I felt the same way when my friend Andrew surprised me with several computer coloured doodles in a letter - some years ago now.

I like the idea of the logo for collaborating drawings. Need a snappier word than collaborative - how about synergy or fusion or camel combo! In theory, as a logo it's rather twiddly, but it does nicely sum up the concept, and give a taste of two different artistic minds.

When more people get involved, it would be harder to keep one line of collaboration going - if it's a free-for-all then I see several versions of one drawing doing the rounds. To keep it all together more, how about a group blog, where it all gets published to one place? (then it's up to each individual whether they put things on their own blogs as well).

Anyway, to start with right now, feel free to publish the camel, and I'll have a go at adding to your head and chimneys.

ps. Have a look at this for one way of adding and adding, from my archives - http://elbowroom1.blogspot.com/2005/06/doodle-x-complete.html

A group blog is a great idea - what should we call it?

Camel Combo?

Do you want to set it up? Could be one way of celebrating the first year of elbow room...

Anyway I'm off out now so back later!

well that was a long lunch wasn't it... (that's all I was popping out for yesterday...)

I've not set up a group blog but am part of one and the person who set it up needed my email address so if you want to do the setting up please send the invite to:

caroline (at) energy (dot) f9 (dot) co (dot) uk

I'll post the camel now!

Hey we just crossed wires! I'm getting confused now...

Not as confused as your blog has suddenly become... I hope nothing serious has happened but the formatting has gone weird...
